Casual Sommelier | a'Mare & Vista'Mare at Crown Sydney
Join the award-winning team at a'Mare and Vista'Mare, two exceptional venues within the iconic Italian dining precinct at Crown Sydney.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Casual Sommelier to deliver exceptional wine service and create memorable dining experiences. This role is ideal for someone with a genuine love of Italian wines, strong product knowledge, and a passion for sharing that knowledge with guests.
Essential Requirements
- Full Australian working rights
- Current NSW RSA Certificate
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Sommelier or Senior Wine Waiter in a premium dining environment
- Fluent English with excellent communication skills
- Strong knowledge of wine service, food and wine pairing, and cellar operations
- Exceptional grooming and presentation
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- Willingness to complete a Crown police compliance check
Preferred Requirements
- WSET Level 2 or above (Level 3 highly regarded)
- Strong knowledge of Italian wines and regional Italian cuisine
- Experience with premium wine lists and Coravin systems
- Italian language skills are an advantage
- Experience using reservation systems such as SevenRooms
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver professional wine service to the highest standard
- Recommend wines that complement guests' dining experiences
- Confidently discuss wine regions, producers, vintages, and varietals
- Assist with maintaining the wine cellar and ensuring stock accuracy
- Support staff training and share wine knowledge with the wider team
- Work closely with the restaurant management team to deliver exceptional guest experiences
- Maintain venue presentation and service standards throughout every shift
