The role of the Chaplain will encompass religious activities and support; spiritual and pastoral care; welfare; and liaison and advocacy.
Chaplaincy services may also provide support to prisoners’ families and friends and undertake liaison on behalf of prisoners in matters of religious, social, and human concern. In addition, pastoral care may be offered to staff within prisons and correctional centres.
The role requires responsiveness to the diverse personal, spiritual, and religious needs of prisoners, their families, and staff, delivered with sensitivity, respect, and professionalism.
