About the Role
As Transport Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading a team of drivers and transport staff while ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest service standards.
You will play a key role in driving operational performance, managing compliance obligations, controlling costs, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement throughout the transport function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and support a team of drivers to achieve operational and customer service objectives.
- Monitor delivery performance, customer service outcomes, and driver productivity.
- Manage transport costs, wages, freight expenses, and departmental budgets within established targets.
- Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), fatigue management, HACCP, WHS, and company policies.
- Investigate and resolve driver performance, customer service, and operational issues promptly.
- Analyse and manage delivery credits, service failures, and cost improvement opportunities.
- Conduct driver onboarding, training, coaching, and performance reviews.
- Work closely with Sales Representatives and internal stakeholders to meet customer requirements and improve service outcomes.
- Attend daily operational meetings and provide transport updates, reporting, and recommendations.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in transport, logistics, or food service distribution operations.
- Strong leadership and people management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage costs, budgets, labour utilisation, and operational performance.
- Sound understanding of transport compliance, fatigue management, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), HACCP, and WHS requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with transport management systems and operational reporting.
- AFM/BFM accreditation highly regarded.
- HR Licence advantageous but not essential.
