Casual, 21 hours/week | Sydney CBD | Flexible around study | Full-time pathway on graduation
About the opportunity
We're a boutique financial advice practice in the Sydney CBD looking for a final-year finance, economics or financial planning student to join us three days a week (or equivalent — we'll build the roster around your timetable).
The role follows a clear progression: casual for an initial 3–6 months, then a full-time role on graduation if we’re the right fit for each other.
You’ll work directly alongside 1–2 Principal Advisers across every stage of the advice process — not just filing and phones — with a pathway toward Paraplanning and Associate Adviser, and support through your Professional Year if becoming an adviser is your goal.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the Principal Advisers across the full advice cycle — onboarding, review preparation, implementation and follow-up
- Preparing client files, meeting packs and review documentation
- Liaising with clients, product providers, platforms and insurers
- Processing applications, transfers and account maintenance requests
- Maintaining CRM records and workflow tracking
- Research, modelling and advice document preparation as your skills develop
What we’re looking for
- Final year of a degree in financial planning, finance, economics, commerce or related field
- Interest in a long-term career in financial advice
- Strong attention to detail and written communication
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office; Xplan experience a bonus, not a requirement
- Professional, reliable, organised and personable — we expect you to deal with clients
- Available 21 hours per week in our CBD office
What we offer
- From $31 per hour + superannuation (casual rate, inclusive of casual loading)
- A structured pathway: casual, then full-time on graduation (circa $60k–$70k + super)
- Genuine flexibility around exams and your timetable
- Direct mentoring from experienced Principal Advisers — you’ll see how advice is actually delivered
- Support through the Professional Year for candidates pursuing adviser registration
- A central CBD location close to public transport
