TC Legal Pty Ltd t/a Summit (AUST) Lawyers is seeking a motivated Solicitor to join our growing legal practice in Melbourne. The firm provides legal services across commercial law, migration law, property law, family law, employment law and dispute resolution. Due to our expanding international client base and cross-border legal projects, we are seeking a solicitor with an overseas legal background and strong multilingual communication skills to support clients from diverse cultural and legal backgrounds.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide legal advice and representation to clients across commercial and general legal matters.
- Draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial agreements and legal documents.
- Conduct legal research and prepare correspondence, submissions and court or tribunal documents where required.
- Manage client files and maintain accurate legal records in accordance with professional obligations.
- Liaise with clients, government agencies, barristers, experts and other stakeholders throughout legal matters.
- Assist with cross-border legal matters involving overseas clients and international commercial transactions.
- Analyse legal risks and provide practical, commercially focused legal solutions.
- Attend client meetings and provide legal advice in English and at least one foreign language where appropriate.
- Support senior solicitors and directors in managing complex legal matters and business development initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements, professional standards and firm policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of professional ethics.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to deliver high-quality legal services and achieve client outcomes.
- Assist with the administration and management of trust accounts, ensuring all trust money is handled in strict compliance with the Legal Profession Uniform Law, applicable trust accounting requirements, and the firm's internal policies.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- Admission (or eligibility for admission) as an Australian Legal Practitioner.
- Minimum one (1) year of post-qualification legal experience in a commercial legal environment.
- An overseas law degree and/or substantial overseas legal education or relevant legal experience supporting international clients or cross-border matters.
- Demonstrated experience in drafting legal documents, conducting legal research and providing commercial legal advice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to communicate fluently in at least one foreign language; Mandarin Chinese is highly desirable due to the firm's international client base.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- High level of professionalism, attention to detail and commitment to client service.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative legal team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Legal Profession Uniform Law and trust accounting obligations, with the ability to administer and manage trust accounts in compliance with applicable legislation and firm policies.
