About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Hotel Yard Person to join our team at Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm Resort in the picturesque Kimberley region of Western Australia. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the hotel grounds, assisting with general maintenance tasks, and ensuring the property is tidy, safe, and welcoming for guests.
This practical role is vital for the smooth operation of the hotel’s outdoor and communal spaces, especially in a remote environment. You’ll carry out routine maintenance, repairs, landscaping, and support the wider team with various operational tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and tidy hotel grounds, gardens, and outdoor facilities.
- Repair broken windows, screens, doors, fences, barbecues, picnic tables, shelves, cupboards, and other general maintenance tasks as required.
- Replace defective items such as light bulbs, tap washers, and damaged fittings.
- Repair and paint interior and exterior surfaces, including walls, ceilings, and fences, to maintain a presentable appearance.
- Perform general repairs and preventative maintenance on hotel buildings and equipment.
- Clear rubbish, debris, and leaves from driveways, paths, and communal areas to keep the property safe and welcoming.
- Mow lawns, cultivate gardens, and ensure all plants are healthy and well cared for.
- Conduct landscaping, mowing, watering, reticulation (install & repairs), and plant care to keep the property attractive.
- Comercial Swimming pool maintenance and upkeep
- Air conditioner filter cleaning and general maintenance
- Adjust doors and windows for proper alignment and function.
- Install handrails and grab rails as needed to enhance guest safety.
- Assist with waste management, recycling, and safe disposal of materials.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
- Keep accurate service logs, maintenance records, and report issues promptly.
- Work closely with contractors and suppliers for larger maintenance projects.
What We're Looking For
· AQF Certificate I, or compulsory secondary education (ANZSCO Skill Level 5)
· Hands-on experience with garden, yard, or building maintenance.
- Competence with basic tools and maintenance equipment.
- Strong commitment to safety, reliability, and preventative maintenance.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting and outdoors.
Desirable:
- Experience with hotel, resort, or hospitality property maintenance.
- Exposure to remote or regional hospitality operations.
- Familiarity with basic electrical or plumbing systems.
- Experience in regional or remote property maintenance.
