As the Senior Botanist, you will:
- Coordinate and undertake activities related to all aspects of vegetation, regional ecosystems and wetlands survey and mapping within your defined thematic or biogeographical area, including interpretation of remotely sensed imagery, vegetation, regional ecosystem and wetland assessments, field survey, database curation and the use of GIS.
- Ensure the quality assurance and quality control of outputs with your defined thematic or biogeographic area, maintaining compliance with internal methods and standards.
- Undertake and provide advice on assessment matters such as Property Maps of Assessable Vegetation, Map Amendment Requests and Environmental Impact Statements.
- Provide timely and high quality technical and scientific information and advice to the PO5 and Science Leader and senior management to address policy, legislative and other issues.
- Establish and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships with internal and external clients and a range of stakeholders relevant to the work program in your defined thematic or biogeographical area.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of survey and mapping methods and the regional ecosystem and wetland classification system.
- Provide on-site leadership for the Queensland Herbarium and Biodiversity Science contribution to the Australian Tropical Herbarium Join Venture.

- This role may include supervision and mentoring a small team of scientific and technical staff. This will include development and review of work and performance plans for team members, providing support for professional and personal development and provision of coaching and training.
- This role may include being a bioregional specialist for one or more bioregions in Queensland.
- This role may include expert witness statements and court appearances for vegetation management and other compliance matters in your area of expertise.
