Career Medical Officer - Emergency Medicine & Hospital in the Home (HITH)
Join a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary team at Bathurst Health Service, where you'll gain broad clinical experience across both Emergency Medicine and Hospital in the Home (HITH) in a unique 12-month rotational position.
This role offers six months in the Emergency Department and six months in Hospital in the Home, providing exceptional exposure to acute, urgent and community-based healthcare delivery. Working under the supervision of experienced senior clinicians, you will develop advanced skills in the assessment, management and coordination of care for a diverse range of patients across both inpatient and ambulatory settings.
Bathurst Emergency Department is a busy regional referral service that provides exposure to a wide variety of presentations, offering excellent opportunities to build confidence in emergency medicine within a well-supported learning environment. The HITH service delivers hospital-level care in the community, allowing clinicians to develop expertise in patient-centred care, chronic disease management, ambulatory care models and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Importantly, Bathurst Health Service is an ACRRM Advanced Specialised Training accredited site for Emergency Medicine and Hospital in the Home, making this an ideal opportunity for doctors pursuing a rural generalist career pathway. The position provides high-quality supervision, structured learning opportunities and valuable experience that supports progression toward advanced training requirements.

Qualifications - External
Essential Requirements:
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Completion of at least two (2) postgraduate years of medical practice.
- Valid NSW Working with Children check.
- Cleared National Police check.
- Aged Care Check for Australian Government funded positions.
- To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.
- You must take all reasonable care for yourself and others and comply with any reasonable instruction, policies and procedures relating to work health safety and wellbeing.

1. Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
2. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent and current authority to practice as a Medical Officer with the Medical Board of Australia.
3. Clinical experience relevant to the specialty area.
4. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills applicable to Australian medical practice.
5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary health care team, under direction of a Consultant, and ability to recognise own clinical limitations and consult as required.
6. Ability to equitably participate in the unit on-call roster with other medical practitioners as required and the ability to participate in a rotating roster including night duty.
7. Demonstrated active participation in and commitment to quality assurance and improvement activities.
8. Current licence to drive in NSW.
