The Role
At Drifter, great guest experiences start with great spaces. As a Maintenance Assistant / Handyperson, you'll help keep our property safe, functional and looking its best for guests and team members alike.
What your day might look like:
-
General maintenance tasks such as painting, patching, repairs, and basic carpentry.
- Responding to maintenance requests promptly.
- Supporting preventative maintenance programs.
- Room inspections and fault identification.
- Maintaining tools and equipment.
- Managing supplies.
- Maintaining indoor and outdoor areas.
- Coordinating with Front Desk and Housekeeping.
- Logging tasks and tracking issues.
- Supporting contractors onsite.
This is a full-time position split across our Sydney properties, with three days each week at Surry Hills and two days at Bondi. No two days are quite the same, so hours may vary from week to week depending on operational needs and maintenance priorities.
Who We Are Looking For
We're looking for someone practical, reliable and proactive who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in. You take pride in your work, have a strong eye for detail and enjoy finding solutions to everyday maintenance challenges.
Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, construction, trades or handyman work is highly regarded, but just as important is a positive attitude, willingness to learn and a commitment to safety. You'll be comfortable working independently, managing your time effectively and communicating with guests, contractors and team members in a professional and friendly manner.
Flexibility is key, as Drifter operates 24/7. Some weekend, public holiday or occasional after-hours work may be required to support the operation of the property.
Why Work with Us?
Drifter is a welcoming and inclusive space where people come together to share stories and new experiences. We welcome guests and employees from all races, places, gender expressions and beliefs to be part of our team. If you're practical, dependable and enjoy working in a hands-on environment where no two days are the same, we'd love to hear from you.
