About this opportunity
The NACC has a General Manager, Evaluation position available for immediate filling in Canberra, Melbourne or Sydney. A merit list will be established to fill vacancies arising in the next 18 months.
About the Branch
The Evaluation Branch receives, triages and assesses matters referred to the NACC to ascertain whether they are within jurisdiction, may raise a corruption issue, and, if so, whether and how to deal with them. This involves direct engagement with referrers from the public and Commonwealth agencies to seek required information and communicate outcomes, and engagement with senior NACC officials to present recommendations. It requires efficiently managing a significant caseload, handling sensitive information and engagement with other public sector agencies.
About the role
The position of the General Manager, Evaluation reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and will develop and lead the Evaluation Branch.
In this role, you will also form an integral part of the Commission’s senior leadership team with a shared responsibility for cultivating and supporting an inclusive, cohesive and productive culture within the Commission. The position has three EL2 Directors as direct reports as outlined below.
Key activities
- Leading and managing a geographically dispersed team to deliver the intake & triage and assessment of referrals of corrupt conduct, from both the general public and agency heads
- Developing and overseeing the strategic direction and operational effectiveness of three teams:
- Intake and Triage
- Routine Assessment
- Complex Assessments and Capability
- Overseeing the triaging and assessment of referrals
- Presenting recommendations to an executive panel
- Managing the communication of Commission decisions
- Driving the establishment and embedding of contemporary best practice and consistency in the delivery of the Evaluation Branch functions, to ensure the NACC is operating in accordance with its relevant legislative requirements, including its reporting and oversight.
- Directly influence and impact the strategic direction of the NACC, working closely with the Commissioner, the CEO, Deputy Commissioners and the Senior Executive team to achieve optimal operational outcomes.
Eligibility
Employment with the NACC is subject to the following conditions:
- Citizenship – applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- Security clearance – this is a Designated Security Assessment Position. The occupant of this position will be required to undergo and maintain a security clearance to Negative Vetting 2.
- Suitability assessment - the NACC must be satisfied that successful applicants are of suitable character. They must undergo a rigorous pre-employment suitability screening process that can be intrusive in nature including (but is not limited to) detailed background, character, employment, police and financial checks.
- Probation - a probation period will apply to a new ongoing engagement in the Australian Public Service.
