The Lawyer is responsible for providing legal advice, managing matters requiring substantial professional judgement and developing long term client partnerships in the WorkCover team.
Key responsibilities:
Managing litigation under Queensland's workers' compensation framework, including the defence of claims from the service of a notice of claim for damages, through the pre-court process and if necessary, through litigation up to and including trials and appeals.
Providing high-quality advice on liability, indemnity, quantum, and settlement.
Conducting advocacy or instructing counsel to conduct advocacy in conferences and mediation and in courts and tribunals, including originating and interlocutory applications, trials and appeals.
Providing strategic risk management and dispute resolution advice.
Advising on complex claims involving asbestos, psychological injury, or third party indemnity disputes.
