We are seeking an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Specialist to design contemporary and relevant employment programs as part of our Diversity and Inclusion Department.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position (12 months). While WFH/Hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at Doncaster in line with our hybrid working model.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Lead Diversity & Inclusion, responsibilities of this position include, but not limited to:
- Design an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment program and activities to support reconciliation
- Use knowledge and experience to help improve cultural safety and equality for employees
- Drive the creation of an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment program, taking an approach that meets the needs of Ambulance Victoria
- Create solutions to address gaps that impact on increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across AV's workforce
- Provide Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture knowledge on strategies to improve recruitment and retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
About you
To be considered for this position you will possess a tertiary degree or relevant industry certification (or progress toward) with high level relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and sound experience, relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment programs:
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment initiatives, with the ability to engage respectfully with community groups and stakeholders
- Strong communication skills and ability to build trusting, meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and communities
- Understanding of and experience in employment program projects and workforce strategies, particularly gained through exposure to cultural diversity initiatives, development and retention
- Ability to engage and influence senior leadership on solutions to attract, retain and develop Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Developed written communication skills, including an ability to prepare high quality businesses cases, papers, and reports for a variety of audiences
- Deep understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, society, and the challenges impacting Victorian Aboriginal communities
