Details: Policy and Cabinet is seeking Expressions of Interest for a temporary Assistant Director (SOG C) role in the Commonwealth–State Relations Branch - a fast-paced, responsive team at the centre of government.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership role where your work will directly influence how the ACT engages with the Commonwealth and other jurisdictions on significant national policy issues. You will operate at the forefront of national policy, helping to drive outcomes through forums such as National Cabinet, Council for the Australian Federation and other key intergovernmental fora.
In this role, you will:

Lead and deliver strategic advice to the Chief Minister, Head of Service and Cabinet

Drive coordination across government, bringing together advice to form clear, unified ACT positions

Navigate complexity, shaping responses to evolving national challenges and opportunities

Deliver results, contributing to major national policy initiatives aligned with the Government’s priorities.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately until 30 September 2026, with the possibility of extension up to six months. This position is available to ACT Government officers and employees only. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
