SENIOR HOST — GUEST EXPERIENCE & SALES
The Heritage Precinct · 215–217 Church Street, Parramatta
Full-time preferred | Part-time & Casual considered
The Heritage Precinct is looking for an exceptional Senior Host to become one of the faces of our venue.
This is not an entry-level hosting position.
We are looking for someone with genuine hospitality experience — polished, confident, commercially minded and capable of creating an exceptional guest experience from the moment someone walks through our doors.
The Heritage Precinct is a three-venue hospitality destination housed within Parramatta's historic Circa 1928 former Bank of New South Wales building.
The precinct is home to:
- Oribu — our AGFG Chef-Hatted Japanese restaurant
- Heritage Lounge — cocktails, wine, sake and an extensive collection of premium and rare spirits
- Le Cheval — our premium Cuban cigar lounge
We are looking for someone who can confidently represent all three experiences.
THE ROLE
As Senior Host, you will be responsible for much more than welcoming and seating guests.
You will help control the guest journey across the precinct — understanding what our guests are looking for, introducing them to what we offer, recommending experiences, driving reservations and confidently converting opportunities into sales.
You should be equally comfortable discussing a dinner reservation at Oribu, recommending a cocktail or premium whisky in Heritage Lounge, explaining our cigar lounge offering, or speaking with a guest considering a private function or special occasion.
You will be expected to:
- Welcome and engage guests with confidence, warmth and professionalism
- Manage reservations, arrivals, seating and guest flow
- Develop a strong understanding of our cocktails, spirits, wine, sake, food and cigar offering
- Make informed recommendations and actively sell the experiences available throughout the precinct
- Identify opportunities to move guests between Oribu, Heritage Lounge and Le Cheval
- Promote premium products and experiences naturally, without making service feel transactional
- Build relationships with regulars, corporate guests and VIP clientele
- Handle telephone, online and in-person enquiries professionally
- Assist with restaurant, lounge and function reservations
- Work closely with management, bar and restaurant teams throughout service
- Maintain exceptional personal presentation and professional standards at all times
- Understand the room, anticipate what guests need and act without constantly needing direction
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are specifically looking for someone with serious hospitality experience.
Ideally, you will have worked in premium restaurants, cocktail bars, five-star hotels, luxury hospitality or similarly high-service environments.
You should have:
- Strong experience in a front-of-house, host, guest relations or premium hospitality position
- Excellent knowledge of spirits and cocktails
- Genuine confidence speaking with guests about food and beverage
- Strong sales ability and commercial awareness
- The ability to upsell naturally and appropriately
- Excellent communication skills
- A polished, sophisticated and professional presence
- Confidence dealing with demanding guests, VIPs and high-value clientele
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to remember guests and build relationships
- A warm personality without being overly familiar
- The ability to remain composed when the venue is busy
- A genuine interest in hospitality rather than simply looking for another job
A current NSW RSA is essential.
Knowledge of whisky, premium spirits, sake, wine and cigars will be highly regarded.
THIS ROLE WILL SUIT SOMEONE WHO...
Loves hospitality.
Knows how to sell.
Enjoys meeting people.
Can walk into a room and immediately understand what is happening.
Takes pride in how they present themselves.
Understands that exceptional service is often about noticing what hasn't been asked for yet.
And wants to become an important part of a premium hospitality venue rather than simply work another shift.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Full-time employment preferred, although outstanding casual and part-time applicants will also be considered
- Competitive remuneration based on experience
- Immediate start available
- Extensive exposure to premium spirits, cocktails, Japanese dining, wine, sake and cigars
- The opportunity to work across three very different premium hospitality concepts
- A Chef-Hatted restaurant and distinctive hospitality precinct on your CV
- Direct involvement with management
- Genuine opportunity to grow with the business for the right person
We are prepared to invest in the right candidate, but our expectations are high.
