Destination Built is seeking a Building Associate to support the coordination and delivery of our building projects. Working alongside our project and site teams, you'll help keep construction running smoothly — interpreting drawings, monitoring works on site, coordinating trades and suppliers, and making sure everything is delivered to the standard our clients expect.
It's a hands-on, varied role suited to someone early in their construction career who's keen to learn, take on responsibility, and grow with us.
What you'll be doing
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation to support the coordination and delivery of building projects.
- Monitor construction activities and inspect completed works to ensure compliance with approved plans, building regulations, Australian Standards and project requirements.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site personnel to support efficient workflow, resource allocation and timely completion of construction milestones.
- Conduct routine site inspections to identify construction issues, defects and non-conformances, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Assist with project scheduling, progress monitoring and reporting to support effective planning and delivery of works.
- Maintain site quality, safety and environmental compliance by supporting inspections, inductions, documentation and quality assurance processes.
- Liaise with clients, consultants and contractors to provide technical support, resolve construction-related queries and keep project communication flowing
What we're looking for
- General knowledge of construction methods and techniques.
- The ability to coordinate and manage key site personnel.
- Effective time management and the ability to juggle competing priorities.
- Sound knowledge of HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment and Quality) regulations.
- Good computer literacy.
- Dispute resolution skills and the confidence to work through issues on site.
- The ability to lead a team and maintain strong relationships between all parties.
- A willingness to keep developing your skills and knowledge.
Experience and qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience in a related construction role.
- A degree in Building Technology or Construction Management.
- TAFE or MBA construction courses.
- A carpentry or other trade background.
- Engineering background.
Pay: $70,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
