The Victorian Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030 commits to the ambitious target of eliminating death from our roads by 2050, with the first step of halving road deaths by 2030. It also seeks to reduce the incidence of serious injury resulting from road crashes.
The Road Safety manages Victoria's road safety camera network and is a representative for the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) in Victoria's road safety partnership. Road Safety contributes to this partnership in the operation of road safety cameras, and the policy and strategic directions of the broader road safety enforcement. Road Safety is accountable to the Minister for Police and the Office of the Road Safety Camera Commissioner.
The purpose of this role is to assist the Projects Team to deliver the program or work, procurement, and delivery of large and small road safety camera projects.
The role is an integral member of the Projects Team. The position will be skilful in working in a technical and outsourced environment, with experience in working with senior staff and a variety of stakeholder groups, third party providers and their associated documentation. The role will assist the senior project manager deliver large projects, including briefs, scheduling, budgeting, risk and issues management and mandatory reporting to a variety of stakeholders support the senior project manager and the broader program of work. The project officer will support on project governance processes across a portfolio of projects. The role also could manage smaller projects under direction.
- Monitor and report on project progress and expenditure and report to key stakeholders on overall project perform..ance.
- Actively identify emerging pressures and possible issues and assist Senior Project Manager with risk management strategies to address them.
- Provide timely advice and develop open and effective communication strategies including collection of highly complex, contentious, or sensitive inform.ation on matters of staff or business.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external project stakeholders including DJCS, project managers and agencies.
- Responsibility for assisting in the delivery of the project's objectives and outcomes, project scope, deliverables and realisation of outcomes/benefits.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of project artefacts for technical infrastructure projects, within a Road Safety or similar environment.
- Demonstrated project co-ordination skills in the successful delivery of complex projects, in a technical and outsourced environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the development of governance reporting, management briefs and other project-based deliverables in Government or similar environment.
