The Role
We're looking for an experienced Buyer to join the SUBTYPE Buying team.
Reporting to the Head of Merchandise, you'll play a key role in shaping SUBTYPE's product offering, building considered assortments across premium footwear, apparel and lifestyle. You'll combine strong commercial thinking with a deep understanding of product, culture and the customer to ensure every buy feels relevant to where SUBTYPE sits within the market.
Working closely with Planning, Marketing, Retail and our global brand partners, you'll identify opportunities, shape seasonal assortments, manage key brand relationships and bring new product and launches to life.
What You'll Do
- Partner with the Planner to develop seasonal buying strategies and annual financial plans.
- Curate compelling, commercially successful assortments across your brand portfolio.
- Use sales, customer, market and trend insights to identify opportunities and shape the range.
- Work closely with Planning to manage inventory, forecasting and Open to Buy.
- Manage assortment depth, size curves and product grading to maximise sales and availability.
- Stay close to the global fashion, footwear and streetwear landscape, identifying emerging trends, brands and product opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with global and local brand partners, working collaboratively on product, launches and commercial opportunities.
- Develop seasonal product presentations, product knowledge and visual direction for Retail teams.
- Partner with Marketing and Brand Partners to deliver key launches, campaigns and brand moments.
- Work closely with Retail teams to understand the customer and bring store-level insights back into the buying strategy.
- Present seasonal strategies, product direction and brand stories to Senior Leadership and Retail teams.
What You'll Bring
- Previous buying experience within premium fashion, footwear or streetwear.
- Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to drive sales, profit and inventory performance.
- A strong understanding of product, brands, customers and the wider fashion and street culture landscape.
- Experience building and managing relationships with brand and supplier partners.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with commercial data.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to balance commercial priorities with a strong product and brand point of view.
- A proactive, curious mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-moving, constantly evolving environment.
- A genuine passion for premium fashion, footwear, sneakers and street culture.
