A busy breakfast and lunch café in Hastings is seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our team on a part-time or casual basis.
We are looking for someone who is confident in food preparation, cooking techniques, and working efficiently in a fast-paced café environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent time management skills and be able to handle multiple orders during busy service periods while maintaining high food quality and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook breakfast and lunch menu items to a high standard
- Complete daily prep work efficiently and maintain prep levels throughout service
- Demonstrate strong cooking techniques and attention to detail
- Manage multiple orders during busy service periods while maintaining quality and presentation
- Work efficiently under pressure and meet service time expectations
- Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation standards
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen
- Assist with stock rotation, ordering and inventory control
- Follow all food safety and workplace procedures
- Support the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations
About You
- Minimum 2 years of kitchen experience required
- Previous café experience preferred
- Strong breakfast and lunch cooking skills
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently during busy service periods
- Reliable, punctual and hardworking
- Passionate about food quality and customer satisfaction
- Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards
- Positive attitude and willingness to be part of a team
