We are currently seeking a Tax Accountant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone working towards or has completed their CA/CPA qualification. You’ll be working closely with the Partner and a team of support staff, gaining exposure to complex tax matters, BAS preparation, and financial statement preparation, all while using the most user-friendly and advanced software tools available.
Position Overview:
As a Tax Accountant at Amwal Advisory, you will play an essential role in managing tax compliance, BAS preparation, financial statement preparation, and providing tax advisory services for a wide range of clients. You will work closely with the Partner, senior team members, and a dedicated support staff team to ensure all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. You’ll also have the chance to lead, mentor, and collaborate in an environment that embraces modern technology and fosters professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships, ensuring compliance with ATO regulations.
- Assist in tax planning and advisory services, helping clients optimize their tax positions and reduce liabilities.
- Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), ensuring accurate reporting of GST, PAYG, and other obligations.
- Prepare financial statements for clients, ensuring compliance with ATO and industry standards.
- Oversee the preparation and lodgement of BAS and financial statements, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Lead and manage a team of support staff, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to ensure high-quality, efficient outcomes.
- Conduct research on Australian tax laws and stay current with regulatory changes to ensure compliance and provide effective tax solutions.
- Collaborate with the Partner and senior team members to develop tax strategies tailored to the needs of clients.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation for tax returns, BAS, financial statements, and other client files in compliance with ATO requirements.
About You:
You are a proactive and detail-oriented Tax Accountant, working towards or already having completed your CA/CPA qualification. You are passionate about adopting the latest technologies to improve workflows and are excited to take on a leadership role, working closely with support staff and senior team members. You bring:
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting (working towards or completed CA/CPA).
- 2+ years of experience in Australian tax accounting, with hands-on experience in BAS preparation, financial statement preparation, and tax compliance (preferably in a public practice environment).
- Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws, ATO compliance, and tax-effective strategies.
- Experience with the best and most user-friendly tax software—we prioritize efficiency and ease of use.
- Experience in managing or leading a team, with a focus on providing mentorship and guidance.
- Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and documentation.
