We’re looking for an experienced and influential Head of Quality to lead our Quality function and play a key role in shaping the future of VMC. This is a critical leadership position responsible for quality, food safety and compliance across the business.
As a member of our leadership team, you’ll shape quality strategy, develop team capability and drive continuous improvement across our operations. This is an opportunity to strengthen systems, build a high-performing team and ensure quality remains a competitive advantage as VMC continues to grow.
As Head of Quality, you will lead the Quality function across the business, providing strategic direction for quality, food safety and compliance while ensuring our systems, processes and people consistently deliver the standards our customers expect.
Leading a small but capable Quality team, you will coach and develop team members while partnering closely with Production, Procurement, Operations, NPD and the Leadership Team to drive quality performance and continuous improvement.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing strategic thinking with hands-on leadership, developing people, improving systems and driving quality outcomes across the business.
Quality Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the Quality function, defining and executing VMC’s quality strategy to support business growth and operational excellence
- Provide expert guidance to the Leadership Team on quality, food safety, compliance and risk
- Ensure quality systems remain scalable, effective and fit for purpose as the business grows
Leadership & Culture
- Lead, mentor and develop the Quality team, building capability and accountability
- Deliver GMP and quality training across the business
- Support operational leaders in maintaining quality and food safety standards
- Champion a culture of quality, food safety, ownership, accountability and continuous improvement
Product Quality & Release
- Oversee batch review and product release processes
- Ensure product specifications and quality standards are met prior to dispatch
- Monitor quality performance across production and implement improvements where required
GMP & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure GMP and food safety systems are consistently applied across operations
- Identify and implement initiatives that improve quality, reduce risk and enhance operational efficiency
- Lead continuous improvement projects that strengthen compliance, product quality and business performance
Supplier Quality & Raw Materials
- Manage supplier approvals and supplier quality performance
- Oversee Approved Supplier Programs and verification of Certificates of Analysis
- Partner with Procurement to ensure supplier compliance, traceability and material quality
Investigations & CAPA
- Lead investigations into non-conformances, deviations and customer complaints
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Ensure actions are implemented, monitored and effectively closed out
Regulatory & Audit Leadership
- Lead customer, certification and regulatory audits, acting as the primary quality representative
- Ensure ongoing compliance with food, supplement and export requirements
- Monitor emerging regulatory requirements and industry standards, implementing changes as required
You’re a proven quality leader with the ability to develop people, influence stakeholders and build systems that support sustainable growth. You combine strong technical expertise with commercial awareness and understand how to balance compliance, operational performance and customer expectations.
You enjoy being visible on the floor, working alongside teams to solve problems, improve systems and deliver consistently high standards.
Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in senior Quality Assurance or Quality Leadership roles within food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical or similarly regulated manufacturing environments
- Strong working knowledge of GMP, HACCP and quality management systems
- Experience leading audits, investigations and CAPA processes
- Experience managing quality documentation and compliance systems
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a quality function
Desirable
- Experience within the health supplements industry
- HACCP, Lead Auditor or other food safety qualifications
- Experience working within customer or retail audit environments
- Experience supporting business growth, quality system development or continuous improvement initiatives
