We are seeking a reliable, energetic and engaging Disability Support Worker to provide community access support to participants in the Morayfield and Caboolture areas.
We currently have two community access opportunities. We are looking for Support Workers who genuinely enjoy helping people access their community, build confidence and independence, and participate in activities that are meaningful and enjoyable to them.
Opportunity 1 – Young Man with Intellectual Disability | Morayfield
We are seeking a Support Worker to provide regular community access support to a young man with an intellectual disability living in Morayfield.
Regular shifts:
- Thursday – 4 hours
- Friday – 4 hours
- 8 hours per week initially
- Potential additional 4-hour Tuesday shift once rapport and trust have been established
The participant has expressed a preference for a younger male Support Worker who he can relate to and feel comfortable spending time with in the community.
The role focuses on supporting him to safely access his community, participate in enjoyable activities, build confidence and independence, and develop positive social and community connections.
We are looking for someone who is friendly, patient, reliable, active and genuinely engaging, and who can take initiative in suggesting and planning suitable community activities based on his interests and preferences.
Opportunity 2 – Young Boy with ASD | Caboolture
We are also seeking a Support Worker to provide community access support to a young boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) living in Caboolture.
He is a very active and energetic young person who requires close and consistent supervision throughout his support. We are therefore looking for someone who is attentive, energetic and comfortable keeping up with an active young person while maintaining his safety and encouraging positive engagement.
Regular shifts:
- Thursday – 4–5 hours, fortnightly
- Friday – 4–5 hours, once per month
This is an active and engaging community-access role. Activities may include:
- Walks, parks and outdoor activities
- Indoor play and activity centres
- Community outings
- Attending appointments
- Finding fun and age-appropriate activities that encourage engagement
- Supporting positive social interaction and community participation
- Occasionally enjoying the simple things – like some Macca’s chips or an ice cream!
For this role, we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young people and can bring a calm, patient, positive and engaging approach, while remaining attentive to his supervision and safety needs.
