National Portfolio Specialist

The opportunity
Due to continued growth and the development of a new commercial packages product, we're looking for an experienced National Portfolio Specialist to join our team.
Reporting to the National Portfolio Manager, you'll play a key role in shaping underwriting strategy, portfolio performance and pricing outcomes across our SME portfolio. This is a highly visible role that combines technical underwriting expertise, portfolio analysis and strategic thinking, offering the opportunity to influence business performance at a national level.

Your new role
- Support the development and execution of national portfolio, underwriting and pricing strategies to deliver profitable growth and portfolio performance.
- Assist with portfolio planning, forecasting, performance monitoring and reporting across the SME portfolio.
- Maintain underwriting frameworks, including appetite, authority levels, underwriting rules and coverage requirements.
- Provide technical leadership through referrals, underwriting guidance, audits and decision support.
- Analyse portfolio performance, identify trends and recommend actions to improve profitability, growth and volatility outcomes.
- Partner with Pricing and Distribution teams to optimise portfolio performance and enhance pricing capabilities.
- Contribute to underwriter capability development through technical guidance, training and coaching.
About you
- Extensive underwriting experience with strong technical expertise in SME Property and/or Liability insurance.
- Strong understanding of portfolio management, pricing principles, risk management and underwriting governance.
- Proven ability to analyse portfolio data and identify performance drivers, trends and opportunities.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the confidence to take ownership of complex initiatives and deliver outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound underwriting decisions and provide credible technical leadership.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
