We are seeking a passionate, motivated and collaborative Assistant Director to join our team in a permanent part time leadership position.
Working closely with the Centre Director, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the service, mentoring educators, driving high-quality educational practice and fostering positive relationships with children and families.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about leadership and curriculum, with the potential to transition into the Educational Leader role as part of our planned leadership succession.
About the Role
This is predominantly an off-the-floor leadership position, allowing you to focus on supporting educators, strengthening curriculum and educational practice, ensuring compliance, mentoring the team and contributing to the ongoing success of the service.
As with any leadership role, there will be occasions where you are required to work in ratio and support educators within the rooms to meet operational needs.
Working alongside the Centre Director and our current Educational Leader, you will have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and, over time, transition into the Educational Leader role as part of our succession planning.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Centre Director with the day-to-day management of the service.
- Leading, mentoring and supporting educators to achieve high-quality practice.
- Promoting a positive, collaborative and professional team culture.
- Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of educational programs in line with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
- Assisting with compliance under the National Quality Framework (NQF), National Quality Standard (NQS), Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, and all relevant legislation.
- Supporting curriculum planning, critical reflection, documentation and assessment for learning.
- Contributing to the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and ongoing continuous improvement.
- Building strong, respectful relationships with children, families and the wider community.
- Assisting with centre administration, rostering and operational management as required.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous leadership experience within an early childhood education and care setting, or is an experienced educator ready to take the next step into leadership.
- Has a strong understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF), National Quality Standard (NQS), Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and relevant legislation.
- Demonstrates confidence in curriculum planning, reflective practice and supporting educators to deliver high-quality educational programs.
- Is forward-thinking, organised and committed to continuous improvement.
- Enjoys mentoring, coaching and inspiring others to grow professionally.
- Has excellent communication, relationship-building and organisational skills.
- Is passionate about achieving the best outcomes for children, families and educators.
- Has a strong understanding of Child Safety and Child Protection obligations
Essential Requirements
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or Bachelor of Early Childhood Education.
- Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teachers are highly regarded.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications (or willingness to obtain).
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with unrestricted working rights (please note that we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position).

Pay: $78,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
