Keep heavy equipment moving in a hands-on HD Fitter role with North Kerry Group
North Kerry Group is looking for an experienced HD Fitter to join our team on a 2/1 roster. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of planned maintenance, breakdown response, fault finding and component change-outs across heavy mobile plant and equipment in a fast-paced operational environment.
Working as part of our operations and maintenance team, you’ll play a key role in keeping equipment running safely, efficiently and reliably. What you’ll be doing
- Carrying out planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on heavy mobile plant and equipment
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical faults across a range of machinery
- Servicing, maintaining and replacing components including engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic systems, pumps, cylinders, brakes, suspension and steering components
- Completing inspections, servicing, repairs and shutdown maintenance activities as required
- Assisting with equipment overhauls, rebuilds and major component change-outs
- Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime
- Working closely with operations to prioritise maintenance tasks and respond to production needs
- Completing maintenance records, pre-starts, job notes and required documentation accurately
- Following site procedures, isolations and safety requirements at all times
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe work area
What we’re looking for
- Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Fitting / Mobile Plant / Diesel Mechanics or similar
- Experience in heavy mobile plant maintenance, civil, quarrying, earthmoving, transport, mining or other heavy industrial environments
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
- Experience working on heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, trucks, skid steers, telehandlers, mobile plant or similar machinery
- Sound knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, drivetrains and mechanical systems
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Good communication skills and a reliable, proactive attitude
- Current driver’s licence
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening if required
Desirable tickets / experience
- HR licence
- Forklift / EWP / Working at Heights tickets
- Air-conditioning licence or auto electrical knowledge
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Experience with CAT, Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo, Liebherr or similar heavy equipment
- Experience in shutdown work and maintenance planning
- Experience in a quarrying, crushing, earthmoving or production environment
