Honour Care is seeking calm, reliable and experienced male Disability Support Workers to provide ongoing one-to-one support to an adult male participant in Browns Plains.
The participant has complex physical support needs and requires a consistent worker who can help him feel safe, respected and comfortable. He has previously had distressing experiences with support services, so patience, trust-building, clear communication and a trauma-informed approach are particularly important.
Hours
Monday to Friday
10:30 am to 2:00 pm
Approximately 17.5 hours per week
Key responsibilities
- Provide respectful personal care and daily living assistance
- Support mobility and daily routines
- Provide companionship and emotional reassurance
- Support appointments, shopping or community access when required
- Follow the participant’s support plan and health instructions
- Complete accurate progress notes
- Maintain the participant’s dignity, privacy, choice and independence
About you
- Calm, mature, patient and dependable
- Excellent spoken English and clear communication skills
- Able to build trust and provide consistent support
- Comfortable providing personal care to an adult male
- Physically capable of safely completing the role
- Practical and willing to assist with light gardening and basic household tasks
- Experience supporting people with Parkinson’s disease, reduced mobility, palliative care or complex physical needs is highly desirable
Essential requirements
- Current or willing to obtain: NDIS Worker Screening, First Aid/CPR and Australian driver licence
- Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle
- Valid Australian working rights
- Relevant disability, aged care or personal-care experience
- Ability to work the stated hours consistently
