The Opportunity
Downer's Energy & Utilities business is seeking an experienced Contract Administrator t o join the New Generation Network Program (NG4D) supporting our Urban Utilities partnership.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager – NG4D , you will provide commercial and contractual leadership across the delivery phase of the program, ensuring contracts are administered effectively, risks are managed proactively, and Downer's contractual entitlements are protected.
Based at our NG4D Program Management Office in Fortitude Valley, QLD , you will work closely with Project Managers, Commercial and Procurement teams, clients, subcontractors and delivery partners to drive successful project outcomes. This role is critical to maintaining strong commercial performance, supporting project governance, and embedding contract management capability across the program.
What You'll Do
- Provide expert contract management advice and support across project delivery, including claims, variations, extensions of time and dispute resolution.
- Lead contract administration activities and ensure compliance with head contract obligations, governance requirements and Downer delivery methodologies.
- Support procurement activities including subcontract tendering, negotiation, award and ongoing subcontract management.
- Drive the effective management of subcontractor and supplier performance, claims, variations and commercial risks.
Partner with project teams to identify, manage and mitigate commercial and contractual risks while protecting Downer's contractual entitlements.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for a commercially astute professional with strong contract administration and stakeholder management capabilities who can confidently operate within a complex project environment.
- Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Law, Business, Finance, Engineering or a related discipline (desirable).
- 3–5+ years' experience in a Contract Administration, Commercial or Contract Management role, ideally within a Tier 1 contractor or utilities environment.
- Strong knowledge of contract management principles, construction contracts, commercial risk management and relevant legislation.
- Proven ability to negotiate effectively and manage variations, claims, subcontractor performance and dispute resolution.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills with the ability to work autonomously and as part of an integrated project team.
