About the Role
The role of the Clinical Assistant is to provide support services to clinical staff in the wards and departments of The Royal Melbourne Hospital.
As a Clinical Assistant you are a vital member of the multi-disciplinary health care team who strive to provide excellent care to patients and their families. Your interactions with patients, relatives and colleagues are guided by the organisation’s vision and The Melbourne Way.
Key Accountabilities
Transportation services (patients, equipment, pathology, blood products, food, clinical records, stores, mortuary transfers)
Demonstrate knowledge and skills utilising the “No Lift” policy, in accordance with hospital procedures
Provide assistance with patient hygiene and other patient related services
Cleaning of bed space and relevant patient equipment (including procedural chairs in day areas) and entry into Computer Assisted Facilities Management (CAFM) system
Removal and disposal of rubbish & recyclables, linen, general waste
Perform emergency response functions, attending and assisting in emergency codes as per organisational policy and procedures
About You
Completion of Certificate 3 Health Service Assistant & additional 6 months experience.
Availability to work full range of shifts including weekends, morning, evening and night shifts.
Willingness to contribute to quality patient care.
Well-developed interpersonal skills, including an ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients and families.
Basic computer skills
Demonstrated ability to safely transfer patients using motorised equipment
Ability to work as a respectful team member in a multidisciplinary environment
Initiative in prioritising workload
Ability to accept direction and seek feedback, be reliable, self-motivated & have a friendly nature
Desirable
Previous experience in an acute health setting
Medical terminology
