Brightstar Nursing Australia Pty Ltd is looking for enthusiastic Food Service Assistant to work along our aged care client in multiple facilities across Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia.
About the Role
As a Food Service Assistant, you will play an important role in ensuring residents receive nutritious meals in a safe, clean, and welcoming dining environment. Working as part of the hospitality and care team, you will assist with meal preparation, meal service, cleaning, and maintaining high food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing and plating meals, snacks, desserts, and beverages.
- Serve meals to residents in accordance with dietary and texture-modified requirements.
- Set up and clear dining areas before and after meal service.
- Operate kitchen equipment, including commercial dishwashers and food trolleys.
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen and dining environment.
- Follow food safety, infection control, and workplace health and safety procedures.
- Monitor and record food and refrigerator temperatures where required.
- Assist with stock rotation, storage, and receiving deliveries.
- Provide friendly, respectful, and professional service to residents.
- Work collaboratively with chefs, nursing staff, and the wider care team.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 6 months of experience in aged care industry.
- A positive attitude with a genuine passion for supporting older people.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Good time management and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and infection control practices.
Essential Requirements
- Food Safety/Food Handling Certificate .
- Current National Police Check
- Australian working rights.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays if required.
