The Impact You’ll Make
As our Financial Controller, you will be the financial heartbeat of our operations—ensuring that every dollar is accounted for, every report is accurate, and every regulatory obligation is met. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will oversee the integrity of our financial systems, lead the month-end close process, and ensure our accounting practices meet both statutory requirements and the highest professional standards. Your work will directly influence strategic decision-making, investor confidence, and operational efficiency across the business.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting.
- Oversee the preparation of statutory accounts in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Ensure compliance with all mining industry regulatory reporting requirements, including royalties, environmental levies, and safety-related financial disclosures.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure adherence to corporate governance standards.
- Manage the budgeting and forecasting process, providing variance analysis and actionable insights to the CFO, executive and operations team.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset registers, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Partner with operational leaders to provide financial insights that drive cost control, productivity, and profitability.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth audits and compliance reviews.
- Implement process improvements and automation initiatives to streamline financial operations.
What You’ll Bring
- CPA or CA qualification with a strong technical accounting background.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within mining, resources, or heavy industry.
- Deep knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, IFRS, and relevant mining industry regulations.
- Proven track record in managing month-end close, statutory reporting, and compliance obligations.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop finance team members.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Pronto, or similar).
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
