About the role
The PCW-Cert IV role is responsible for providing high level of personal care according to ANHF's standard and carry out medication duties per completed training and competency. Ensure safe medication management systems in line with legislative guidelines and standards.
Responsibilities and Duties
Personal Care Worker - Cert IV with medication competency
- Provide personal care requirements according to the care recipient’s current needs and individual care plan.
- Carry out medication duties per completed training and competency.
- Ensure safe medication management systems in line with legislative guidelines and standards.
- Carry out duties as directed by Facility Manager/Care Manager/Registered Nurse.
- Conduct care recipient assessments as directed by Facility Manager/Care Manager/Registered Nurse.
- Organise and attend medical practitioners’ or allied health professionals’ visit as required.
- Recognise, response appropriately per training, and report to the RN-in charge of each shift any changes in a resident’s condition, or any incidents which have occurred during work.
- Maintain documentation on residents as required.
- Participate in the development and evaluation of care plans and programs of activities to improve resident’s care in consultation with residents and their representatives.
Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidates should possess but not be limited to the following:
Essential:
- Holds a Certificate IV in Ageing Support, AND Medication module- “Administer and monitor medications” (HLTHPS007); or
- Hold other appropriate qualifications acceptable to the employer; or
- Completed ANHF medication training and competencies successfully.
- At least 500 hours of experience in administering medications to care recipients.
- National Police Clearance.
- Valid Australian work right.
- Evidence of good team building, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to write reports in both Chinese and English.
- Computer literacy including knowledge and competency in basic Microsoft applications.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of WHS, EEO, and anti-discrimination legislative requirements.
Desirable:
- Experience in residential aged care.
- Experience working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse populations.
- Understanding of, and/or experience in the Aged Care Accreditation Standards.
