The Opportunity
SunPork Consolidated Pty Ltd requires a Biogas Plant Engineering Technician to directly support our Queensland Tong Park Piggery operations. This position is full time and will be based out of our Tong Park Piggery in Warra, Queensland. This position requires ongoing monitoring of plant equipment and systems and identifying opportunities for improvement whilst meeting key production deadlines.
Responsibilities, tasks, and duties:
- Operate and maintain equipment associated with stock feed production.
- Perform troubleshooting and running repairs on mechanical equipment.
- Monitor the operation of plant equipment and systems to minimise downtime, solve problems and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Gather and report plant process parameters through regular checking of equipment.
- Adhere to and enforce all applicable company safety, health and environmental policies and procedures
- Maintain facilities and be a proactive WHS and QA leader.
- Maintain a high level of quality control in accordance with biogas quality management standards implemented by the company.
- Operate biogas plant equipment such as valves, engines, and generators to ensure they function correctly in transforming biomass to biogas.
- Measure and assess the quality of the biomass feedstock.
- Calculate, load and mix biomass feedstock to be used for power generation.
- Calibrate liquid flow devices such as fuel, chemical and water meters.
- Operate biomass fuel gasification equipment in accordance with specifications and instructions.
- Handle gas cylinders in a safe manner and ensure they are compliant with health and safety regulatory requirements.
- Test the purity of gas using specific testing devices.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and repairs to all mechanical and electrical equipment in the biogas plant.
- Ensure the necessary gas pressure is maintained during the metal fabrication processes.
- Provide technical advice, assistance and support to farm managers.
- Actively support, lead and take part in work health and safety initiatives across the site.
- Complete other duties as requested by management that are within your expertise and skill set.
- Undertake all work while upholding all SunPork’s values.
- Take reasonable care for own health and safety and that of others.
- Use PPE and safety equipment correctly.
- Report hazards, incidents and near misses.
- Participate in safety training and emergency procedures.
- Undertake all work in line with SunPork safety expectations.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental or agricultural engineering, or similar qualification;
- Minimum 3 years relevant and related work experience in commercial biogas operations or related field;
- Demonstrated safety leadership in the past and will strive to maintain a safe and healthy workplace;
- Experience working in a farming environment, with exposure in intensive animal production an advantage;
- Demonstrated expertise in the management and maintenance of biogas plant operations;
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel an advantage;
- Ability to work under pressure;
- Ability to work as part of a team and achieve targets and deadlines;
- Quality assurance and control
Pay: $79,500.00 – $80,000.00 per year
