We are seeking an experienced and motivated Hairdresser to join our team on a full-time basis.
About the Role
The successful applicant will provide professional hairdressing and grooming services, including client consultations, hair cutting, styling, colouring, straightening, hair and beard trimming and other related services.
This role requires strong technical hairdressing and barbering skills, excellent customer service, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a busy barber shop environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Hairdresser will be responsible for:
- Consulting with clients to understand their hair care needs, preferred hairstyles and grooming requirements;
- Providing professional advice to clients on hair care, hairstyles, beauty products and suitable hair products;
- Shampooing hair and conditioning scalps before cutting, styling, colouring or treatment services;
- Cutting hair using scissors, clippers and razors in accordance with client instructions and suitable style recommendations;
- Styling hair using appropriate tools, products and techniques to achieve the desired client outcome;
- Colouring, straightening and treating hair using appropriate products, chemical solutions and safe application techniques;
- Shaving and trimming beards and moustaches using appropriate barbering tools and techniques;
- Performing fades, clipper cuts, scissor cuts, beard shaping and general grooming services;
- Cleaning work areas and sanitising instruments, tools and equipment in accordance with hygiene and workplace safety standards;
- Arranging client appointments, managing bookings and assisting with customer enquiries;
- Collecting payments and assisting with basic point-of-sale duties where required;
- Maintaining client records and noting relevant service details where required;
- Maintaining stock levels of hair products, grooming products, salon supplies and equipment as directed by management;
- Maintaining a professional, clean, safe and organised work area at all times;
- Following all workplace health and safety procedures, hygiene standards and business policies;
- Working cooperatively with other team members to ensure smooth shop operations and high-quality customer service;
- Performing any other duties reasonably associated with the role of Hairdresser and the operational needs of B-Town Barber.
Skills and Experience Required
The successful applicant must have:
- Certificate III in Hairdressing or equivalent relevant qualification;
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Hairdresser or Barber;
- Strong skills in hair cutting, styling, colouring, straightening and grooming services;
- Strong barbering skills, including fades, clipper cuts, scissor cuts and beard trimming;
- Ability to use scissors, clippers, razors, styling tools and hair treatment products safely and professionally;
- Good knowledge of hair care products, treatments and scalp care;
- Strong customer service and communication skills;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced barber shop environment;
- Strong attention to detail, presentation and hygiene standards;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
