Category 5 Labour Management is partnering with a respected heavy engineering company to recruit an experienced Planner / Expeditor for their Henderson workshop.
This role is ideal for someone with strong workshop planning and estimating experience who enjoys coordinating machining and mechanical engineering projects from quotation through to completion. You’ll work closely with customers, suppliers and workshop teams to keep projects on schedule, within budget and delivered to a high standard.

About the Role Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will coordinate workshop activities while supporting commercial and production outcomes across machining and mechanical engineering projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Prepare accurate estimates, quotations and job costings.
- Analyse engineering drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
- Plan and schedule workshop activities across machining and fitting departments.
- Compile strip and assessment findings to support accurate estimating.
- Procure materials and coordinate external suppliers.
- Monitor project progress and expedite work to achieve delivery deadlines.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.
- Manage project costs to support profitability.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across workshop operations.
- Maintain compliance with safety, quality and environmental systems.
About You
You will bring previous experience planning and estimating within a heavy engineering or manufacturing environment together with strong organisational skills.
To be successful you will have:
- Trade qualification or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting & Machining, Machining or similar.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in estimating, planning or expediting within manufacturing or heavy engineering.
- Strong understanding of machining and mechanical workshop processes.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience coordinating materials, suppliers and production schedules.
- High attention to detail and strong commercial awareness.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently.
- Experience with ERP, MRP or workshop management systems is highly regarded.
