We are currently seeking a Management Accountant to join our team. This role is ideal for a motivated accounting professional who is looking to go beyond traditional accounting and play a key role in financial planning, analysis, and operational decision-making within a horticulture environment.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, your primary responsibilities will include:• Preparing and delivering management reports, financial analysis, and insights to support strategic and operational decision-making
- Developing, managing, and monitoring budgets and forecasts across orchard and packhouse operations to optimise resource allocation
- Conducting detailed orchard block costing, performance evaluation, and variance analysis to identify cost drivers and improve profitability
- Analysing labour costs and operational efficiencies, and providing recommendations to optimise workforce utilisation and cost structures
- Monitoring and evaluating chemical and input costs, and advising management on cost control strategies and operational improvements
- Leading cash flow forecasting and financial planning processes, ensuring effective liquidity management and alignment with business objectives
- Maintaining oversight of general ledger integrity and ensuring accuracy of financial data for reporting and analysis
- Preparing and delivering month-end and year-end financial reports, including performance analysis and actionable recommendations
- Developing, monitoring, and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) to support performance management and continuous improvement
- Ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, while identifying opportunities to improve financial systems and internal controls
- Providing financial modelling, scenario analysis, and recommendations to support business growth, pricing decisions, and operational planning
- Overseeing payroll and expenditure processes, ensuring alignment with financial controls, cost management strategies, and organisational policies
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a Management Accountant / Accountant / Finance Officer role
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis
- Knowledge of cost accounting or operational finance (experience in agriculture/horticulture is highly regarded)
- Experience preparing monthly management accounts and financial statements
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline (essential)
- Proficiency in Xero and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to work closely with operational teams and translate financial data into insights
