Australian Venue Co. is one of Australia and New Zealand’s fastest-growing hospitality groups, operating a diverse portfolio of more than 250 pubs, bars and restaurants. Backed by private equity and continuing to scale, we offer a rare opportunity to work on commercial problems that have an immediate impact across hundreds of venues.
We're looking for a commercially minded Commercial Optimisation Analyst – Food & Beverage to join our Revenue Growth team and play a key role in improving menu performance, food margins, promotional effectiveness and venue profitability across the portfolio.
This is an opportunity to work on high-impact projects that directly influence business decisions, partnering with stakeholders across Food, Beverage, Operations, Marketing, Procurement and Finance. The role is suited to someone who enjoys structuring ambiguous commercial problems, turning analysis into recommendations, and helping those recommendations get implemented across a complex multi-site business.
As the Commercial Optimisation Analyst – Food & Beverage, you'll lead the analytical design and delivery of Food & Beverage optimisation projects. You'll turn complex commercial and operational questions into clear, actionable insights that improve decision-making and drive measurable results.
Working closely with F&B Project Managers and business stakeholders, you'll identify opportunities, build analytical frameworks and translate findings into practical recommendations that can be implemented across venues.
This role combines commercial problem solving, practical analytics and stakeholder influence. It is not a pure reporting or dashboarding role. The focus is on using analysis to drive better commercial decisions and improve business performance.
- Plan the analytical approach to Food & Beverage projects, defining methodologies, data requirements and success measures.
- Frame ambiguous business questions into clear analytical plans, including what decision needs to be made, what data is required and how success should be measured.
- Develop commercially practical recommendations, including trade-offs, risks and implementation considerations.
- Analyse sales mix, GP$, GP%, COGS, menu performance, pricing, promotional activity and venue-level performance.
- Partner with project leads to prioritise opportunities and focus analytical effort on the highest-value commercial decisions.
- Deliver insights and recommendations that support menu engineering, margin improvement, pricing initiatives and promotional optimisation.
- Build and maintain dashboards, scorecards, models and reporting processes using Power BI, Excel and available data sources.
- Ensure analytical outputs are accurate, commercially relevant, reproducible and easy for stakeholders to understand.
- Support project implementation by identifying target venues, operational risks, commercial assumptions and performance measurement approaches.
- Track post-implementation results and recommend adjustments to improve profitability, compliance and adoption.
- Create repeatable analysis and processes that reduce manual ad hoc work and allow insights to be refreshed quickly.
You'll be a highly analytical professional who enjoys using data to influence commercial outcomes. You can simplify complex information, challenge assumptions and communicate insights in a way that drives action.
You may come from commercial analysis, consulting, strategy, business improvement, pricing, revenue growth, category management, operations analysis or a similar decision-support role. You do not need to come from a pure data analytics background, but you do need to be confident working with data to solve commercial problems.
- Experience in commercial analysis, business analysis, consulting, strategy, revenue growth, pricing, operations improvement or analytics roles.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with Power BI or Tableau.
- The ability to structure ambiguous commercial problems and turn them into clear analysis, recommendations and action plans.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience working with large datasets and translating findings into business recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- A commercial mindset with a genuine interest in improving business performance.
- A bias toward practical implementation, not just analysis for its own sake.
- Experience within hospitality, retail, consumer, food service or multi-site operations.
- Exposure to menu engineering, pricing, margin analysis or promotional performance analysis.
- Experience preparing recommendations for senior stakeholders or influencing decisions through analysis.
- Experience with SQL or other data querying tools.
