We are looking for an experienced and confident Room Leader to join our childcare team.
For this position, we are particularly interested in educators who have genuine, hands-on experience working on the floor in an early childhood setting. We are looking for someone who understands the day-to-day realities of running a room, supporting children, communicating with families and leading fellow educators.
About the Role
As Room Leader, you will be responsible for:
- Leading and supporting educators within your room
- Creating a safe, positive and engaging environment for children
- Planning and implementing meaningful educational experiences
- Maintaining routines and ensuring the room runs smoothly throughout the day
- Completing observations, programming and documentation
- Building positive relationships with children and families
- Supporting children's individual needs, development and wellbeing
- Ensuring appropriate supervision and compliance with service policies and the NQF
- Providing practical leadership and guidance to junior educators and trainees
- Working collaboratively with the Centre Director and wider team
What We're Looking For
Practical childcare experience is very important to us.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 2 years of genuine on-floor experience in an Australian early childhood education and care service
- Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, or another suitable recognised qualification
- Previous Room Leader experience highly regarded
- Strong understanding of routines, supervision, ratios and day-to-day room management
- Good knowledge of the EYLF and National Quality Framework
- Confidence leading and supporting other educators
- Strong communication skills with children, families and colleagues
- Current Working With Children Check
- Relevant First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications
Important
This is a hands-on Room Leader position, and practical experience working directly with children is essential.
We are specifically seeking an educator with demonstrated floor experience rather than applicants whose primary qualification is a recently completed Graduate Diploma with limited practical early childhood experience.
