About the Role
As the Site Contract Manager, you will be the key technical and operational representative for Metso on site, specialising in crushing equipment and associated systems. You will lead service delivery, provide expert technical guidance, oversee maintenance activities, and build strong customer relationships that drive long term value.
This role combines leadership, technical expertise, customer engagement, and hands-on field work, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both strategic thinking and practical execution.
You will play a critical role in improving equipment reliability, driving safety and performance outcomes, and identifying opportunities to enhance plant productivity and customer value.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Taking ownership of the overall Metso underground service contract at Olympic Dam and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Acting as the primary technical liaison between BHP, Metso product divisions, engineering teams, and sales personnel.
Leading and coordinating site service activities relating to crushers, OEM spare parts, wear components, and technical services.
Providing hands on mechanical maintenance support and technical expertise on Metso equipment.
Supervising Metso personnel and contractors to ensure safe and efficient execution of work.
Conducting equipment inspections, condition assessments, and reliability reviews.
Investigating equipment and component failures and providing recommendations for improvement.
Supporting quotation development by defining scopes of work, planning activities, and providing cost estimates.
Preparing maintenance reports, service documentation, and customer recommendations.
Promoting Metso products, services, technical solutions, OEM spare parts, and wear materials.
Supporting warranty claims, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensuring compliance with Metso and customer safety standards and procedures.
Working closely with Technical Support and Engineering teams to resolve complex issues.
Identifying opportunities to expand Metso's installed base and strengthen customer partnerships.
Supporting both local and occasional interstate or international service activities as required.
About You
You are a self motivated professional who enjoys taking ownership, building trusted relationships, and delivering results. You are comfortable working independently while leveraging the support of a global organisation and a highly experienced technical network.
To be successful, you will have:
Mechanical trade qualification.
Minimum 3 years' experience working with crushers within the mining or quarry industry.
Experience across mining fixed plant equipment including:
Primary gyratory crushers
Drive line installation and alignment
Precision measurement techniques
Lubrication systems
Demonstrated commitment to safety leadership and risk management.
Working knowledge of rigging and dogging practices.
Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel).
Current driver's licence.
Ability to pass site medical requirements and work unrestricted on mine sites.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to read and interpret:
Mechanical drawings
Electrical schematics
Hydraulic schematics
Construction drawings
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience writing detailed technical reports.
Ability to perform basic engineering calculations.
A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and customer success.
Standard hand tools relevant to the role.
