Primary objective
The Facilities and Maintenance Officer is responsible for raising requests through the Urgent Minor Repairs (UMR) process and maintaining
register for NT Fire and Emergency Services (NTFES) buildings, including administrative locations, Fire and Emergency response locations,
and Volunteer Units, coordinating maintenance requests with NTFES employees, and engaging with the Department of Logistics and
Infrastructure or contractors/service providers where a request is not covered under UMR.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Utilising facilities management principles, coordinate the UMR, and general repairs and maintenance for NTFES infrastructure,
including administrative offices, Fire Stations, Emergency Service caches, Bushfire land management centres, and Volunteer Units
and provide advice and guidance as needed.
2. Be the primary contact person for all maintenance and repairs relating to all NTFES buildings and infrastructure.
3. Provide day-to-day assistance and coordination of repairs and maintenance for the facilities.
4. Coordinate facilities projects and ad hoc works, including scope development, contractor liaison, scheduling, site access arrangements
and progress monitoring to support delivery of safe, compliant and functional facilities across NTFES.
5. Maintain accurate facilities records, registers and reporting information, including UMRs, maintenance requests, contractor activity,
and asset-related documentation.
6. Provide advice on work health and safety, risk, procurement, and compliance matters relating to facilities management, repairs and
maintenance, and support business continuity through timely resolution of building and site issues.
7. Assist with the coordination of NTFES' minor works program
8. Manage contracted service provision schedules for NTFES specialist systems and machinery (i.e. Breathing Apparatus Compressors)
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Extensive knowledge and proven relevant experience and success in planning, coordinating, leading, monitoring progress and
managing multiple projects of varying priority and locations across the Northern Territory.
2. Ability to interpret information and provide practical advice to support timely outcomes and service continuity.
3. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as an ability and experience managing a complex and
demanding workload.
4. Knowledge and relevant experience in administrative, procurement, and records management including compliance with legislative,
policy and process requirements similar to or in accordance with those of the Northern Territory Government.
5. Knowledge of work health and safety, risk management, and compliance requirements relevant to the management of infrastructure,
properties, and projects.
6. High standard of written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures
and provide a professional client focused service.
7. Well-developed computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and systems used for work requests, reporting, and document
management.
Desirable
1. Relevant qualification in facilities management, project management, property, business or a related field
