So I run a pretty cool little tour business around Sydney mainly to the Blue Mountains and a little to other Sydney tourism destinations such as Hunter Valley. This job is pretty chilled, fun, social and obviously outdoors. Really seeking someone that loves the chat, meeting cool people, patient and always has a smile. This job is amazing for people who love to be outdoors and to chatting with happy internationals that are on their holiday. Generally this position is one staff member doing the guiding and driving.
So the day trips require moderate hikes so having a degree of fitness is required. We do multiple walks including many stairs and often in the sun. Some essy tour content and being confident in front of 20+ happy travellers (we understand that it might be concerning when you first start).
The minibuses (automatic) are about 7 to 8 metres long which are a little longer than a standard car but not substantial. If you struggle with a car then this isn't for you. There is more tour options for those that can drive even larger buses, once you build confidence in the small buses it's only a small step to the next. This position is working solo as a driving tour guide.
We have some guides that do multiple tours every week as a main source of income, some guides that do just a tour a week alongside university/other jobs and some guides that reach out when they need money.
The person to take on this awesome job opportunity should meet the below criteria:
- Be over 25 & not on a working holiday visa
- A local person that is fit to bushwalk
- Sense of humour is a positive
- Happy, chilled & patient
- A part time warrior. Great for a uni student.
- Can also offer multiple shifts a week.
- Great punctuality, reliability and work ethic
- Work independently without supervision
- Live within 20mins drive of Sydney city with preference to the Inner West/Inner South/Eastern Suburbs
- Have an MR heavy vehicle license or willing to obtain.
- Have a BUS Driver Authority or willing to obtain.
- Have a first aid certificate or willing to obtain.
- After a chat you may be invited to tag along on a day tour to be sure it's your thing.
Main tasks:
Driving a small bus and chatting to happy travellers.
Visiting cool viewpoints and giving relevant content
Giving basic tour specific info and other Aussie info
Connecting with customers to make their day awesome
Refuel of bus at servo, if you don't know what a servo is then this isn't your job ;)
Quick sweep of bus at conclusion of tour
