About the position:
The College is seeking to appoint a qualified and innovative teacher of Geography across Years 7 – 10 including the elective courses. The position is a permanent full-time (1.0 FTE) role to commence in Term 4 2026 or Term 1 2027 depending on the successful candidate. A contribution to the pastoral care and co-curricular program is part of the role of all staff at the College.
Geography is a vibrant and popular discipline as part of the Geography Department at Newington. The Department delivers high-quality programs in mandatory Geography in Stage 4 and Stage 5, which contribute to elective courses being popular at all levels. Elective Geography is offered as a Global Studies two-year course in Stage 5 and is a popular subject which seeks to explore global issues and put geographical thinking in a transdisciplinary context. In Stage 6 both HSC Geography and IB Geography (at both SL and HL) attract strong cohorts each year. The students have high success with 97% of HSC students achieving at a Band 5 or 6 in the 2025 cohort.
