The Manager (Rail Strategy and Coordination) contributes to the leadership of a significant and complex program of work within Strategic Rail, shaping the long-term direction of the state's rail network and supporting the delivery of infrastructure and services aligned to government priorities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of complex rail planning studies, strategies and programs, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time and within budget.
- Drive the strategic direction of the rail network through the development of medium and long-term plans and priorities.
- Manage stakeholder engagement, including consultation, negotiation and maintaining strong partnerships across government and industry.
- Represent Strategic Rail in relevant forums and support informed decision-making on rail, transport and land use planning issues.
- Manage issues and public information relating to rail planning and strategy, including preparing advice for executive leadership.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Demonstrated extensive experience in leading complex strategic transport plans and/or studies
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic guidance and technical advice on transport planning principles and methodologies.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a collaborative approach to working and the ability to influence across all levels of government and industry.
- Proven leadership capability, including a demonstrated ability to lead and support multidisciplinary teams, foster collaboration, manage resources and support professional development.
- High-level written communication skills, with the ability to prepare complex and audience-tailored materials.
- Strong project management capability, including coordinating complex programs of work and delivering within time and budget constraints.
- Ability to analyse complex issues and provide sound, evidence-based advice to senior stakeholders.
Desirable requirements
- A tertiary qualification in rail planning, transport planning, engineering, transport economics or a related discipline is highly regarded.
- Knowledge of the Queensland rail operating environment is desirable.
- Knowledge/background in transport planning, especially in a rail, public transport and/or broader transport environment.
