About the Role:
This is a permanent, part-time position at 3.5 hours per fortnight (0.05FTE) within the Department of Adolescent Medicine.
You will be responsible for facilitating the provision of high quality, evidence based medical care for young people and their families in both inpatient and outpatient settings by leading, conducting and facilitating research within the Department of Adolescent Medicine.
Internally, this position will be known and referred to as: Research Lead (Department of Adolescent Medicine) and/or Research Lead (Adolescent Medicine & Gender Service).
Classification for this position is governed by Award 31 - Senior Medical Officers (Fractional) from HN16, Specialist Year 1 to HN56, Specialist Year 9 (depending on experience, part-time fractional, plus Superannuation).
What you’ll achieve:
Establish a department research strategy in collaboration with the Department head and, where relevant, MCRI group leaders
Support staff of all professional backgrounds to participate in quality clinical research regardless of previous research experience and expertise
Facilitate education sessions for the department to develop research skills and capacity
Conduct independent research activities and lead high performing research teams
Lead and participate in national/international high calibre collaborative research which attracts external funding, and results in research outputs such as publications (i.e. high quality journal articles/book chapters/reports/policy), clinical and public health outcomes, and peer recognition
Your skills and experience:
Essential:
Relevant clinical qualifications
Relevant research qualifications (e.g. PhD)
Desirable:
Specialty knowledge, training and experience working in adolescent medicine
Specialty knowledge, training and experience working with electronic medical systems, such as EPIC
About the Department:
The Department of Adolescent Medicine provides healthcare and support to adolescents and their families via a range of specialist multidisciplinary services. These include the RCH Gender Service, Eating Disorders Service, Chronic Illness Peer Support (ChIPS), Young People’s Health Service and the Transition Support Service, in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
The RCH Gender Service is a Victorian state-wide service providing multidisciplinary care for trans and gender diverse children and adolescents up until their 16th birthday. The assessment, treatment and support provided by the RCH Gender Service is consistent with the Australian Standards of Care and Treatment Guidelines for trans and gender diverse children and adolescents (v1.4 2023) and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, Standards of Care, Version 8.
