Primary objective
As a member of the laundry team and under the direction of the supervisor assist in the effective and timely operation of
duties to provide an efficient and effective Laundry Service for Katherine Hospital.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Adhere to all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) regulations and Infection Control procedures as documented and
report any instances of cross contamination or machinery faults to the Laundry Supervisor.
2. Follow precise workstation procedures when carrying out duties at all workstations which include record keeping,
collecting, sorting and washing soiled linen, drying and delivering clean linen to Hospital wards and other approved clients,
workstation cleaning, assisting with the changeover of chemical drums when required, and operating laundry machinery
to complete these duties as required.
3. Ensure all duties are performed in a timely and satisfactory manner.
4. Participate in Laundry Services Team meetings, Staff Education and myPerformance when required.
5. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being
undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrate knowledge of Basic English literacy and numeracy skills.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of WHS regulations and Infection Control and COVID 19 procedures in an industrial
environment and whilst operating machinery.
3. Working knowledge and experience in the safe use of chemicals.
4. Demonstrate physical capability to handle a heavy workload that is physically demanding over an extended period, and
medical fitness to handle industrial chemicals.
5. Proven ability to work well within a multi-cultural environment and to work as a positive and supportive team member.
6. Demonstrate punctuality and reliability.
7. Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
8. Ability to drive Laundry Tow Trolley or willingness to learn
