Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for Permanent & Casual Patient Services Assistant – Patient Transport to join the Internal Patient Transport team at John Flynn Private Hospital.
As part of our supportive and vibrant team, you will play an important role in ensuring patients are transported safely and efficiently throughout the hospital, including to and from wards, theatres and diagnostic departments.
You will provide a high standard of patient care and assistance while working closely with nursing and clinical teams to support the smooth day-to-day operation of the hospital.

To be successful, you will have:

Certificate III in Health Services Assistance or equivalent

Recent and relevant experience within an acute hospital setting

A strong commitment to patient dignity, safety and quality care

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
-
Sound manual handling skills and the ability to safely use patient transport aids
-
A flexible and reliable approach to work
-
The ability to work a 7-day rotating roster, including evening, night and on-call shifts
Key Responsibilities
-
Safely transport patients between wards, theatres and diagnostic departments via wheelchair, bed or trolley

Assist with patient transfers and manual handling using appropriate aids and equipment
-
Prioritise patient dignity, comfort and safety throughout every transfer

Work closely with nursing and clinical staff to coordinate and prioritise patient transfers

Assist with urgent transfers and responses to emergencies as required

Clean, maintain and correctly store patient transport equipment
-
Monitor equipment to ensure it remains clean, safe and functional
-
Assist with minor environmental tasks or courier duties as required

Maintain a professional, respectful and caring approach when interacting with patients, visitors and staff

Follow hospital policies, procedures, infection prevention and control requirements, and workplace health and safety standards
