The Early Learning Operations and Monitoring (ELOM) Division leads core funding, operational policy, data collection and reporting, contract management policy and financial monitoring functions for funded Three- and Four-Year-Old kindergarten programs in Victoria.
This includes a number of sector supports and programs to help ensure viable, well managed services that are accessible to all children. The newly established Kindergarten Audit, Assurance and Risk team oversees an external audit program of funded providers, conducts complex provider financial assessments, governance research and advice, and contributes to development of strategic risk tiering and assessment tools and compliance frameworks.
The Project Officer plans and undertakes administration and governance of special projects and programs.
About the opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Officer to join the newly established Kindergarten Audit, Assurance and Risk team within the Sector Monitoring sub-branch of ELOM. The role entails collecting and analysing data associated with projects undertaken, preparing written and visual reports on project outcomes, and providing general support to ensure smooth project and program management. The role requires a proactive self-starter with a keen eye for detail, strong administration and stakeholder management skills, and a willingness to work across multiple fast-paced projects. Due to the varied nature of projects within the team, this role provides the opportunity to develop into various career pathways, including project or program management, audit, financial analysis, data analytics, risk management and policy development.
You will play a pivotal role in:

Supporting delivery of the external audit program by providing administration, communication and governance support throughout the program life cycle.

Supporting delivery of complex financial viability assessments with research, data collection, contract administration and monitoring.

Providing general support to the development of strategic risk management tools and compliance frameworks

Preparing key executive communication materials such as written reports, PowerPoints, visualisations and dashboards.

Contributing to a positive and collaborative team culture.

Exercise professional judgement about the application of rules, or the selection of choices prescribed within existing guidelines.

Requirements

Essential: Relevant experience with data, reporting and communication tools such as Excel, PowerBI and PowerPoint

Desirable: Experience conducting external audits or analysing audited financial statements with accompanying footnotes.
