What you will do
As financial assistance scheme intake and triage officer, you will help victims of crime access financial assistance through a fair and supportive process.
You will review applications, gather information and help ensure people receive timely support.
You will:
-
review applications and identify required evidence
-
communicate with victims and support people in a sensitive and trauma-informed way
-
assess applications to determine priority, complexity and readiness for assessment
-
make interim decisions to respond to the immediate needs of applicants
-
manage invoice payments and work with other services to obtain information needed to progress applications.
About you
A qualification and/or experience in community services, social work, criminology, psychology, victim services or family violence is desirable.
You will bring experience supporting people affected by trauma and communicating with empathy and respect. Experience using Salesforce or a similar case management system is desirable. Experience processing payments is also desirable. You will value cultural safety, victim-centred practice and improving outcomes for Aboriginal people.
You should also have:

the ability to build positive relationships and handle difficult conversations

a commitment to inclusion, cultural safety and supporting people from diverse backgrounds.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
The salary range for this position is set out in the Victorian Public Service Enterprise Agreement 2024. Please refer to the Department of Treasury and Finance website for further information.
Department policy stipulates that salary upon commencement is paid at the base of the salary range for the relevant grade. Any above base requests require sign off by an executive delegate and will be by exception only or where required to match the current salary of Victorian Public Service staff transferring at-level.
If you have previously left the VPS on a departure or separation package, employment restrictions may appl y.
You may be required to mobilise to other areas to support priority projects or programs.
