See yourself in our team
Business Banking Compliance forms part of Group Compliance Line 2 and partners with Business Banking and central teams to provide independent compliance advice, oversight and challenge. Within this function, Transactional Banking Compliance supports Payments, Everyday Business Banking, including deposit, transaction and merchant acquiring products, and Digital and CommBiz products. This is an opportunity to influence compliance outcomes across important Transactional Banking products. You’ll work with Line 1 Risk, Product Owners and senior stakeholders to support customer-focused, compliant-by-design outcomes while gaining exposure to new products, innovation and connected payments. The role predominantly supports Everyday Business Banking deposit and transaction products and reports to the Head of Transactional Banking Compliance.
Do work that matters
In this role, you will:
- provide senior Line 2 compliance advice on regulatory, licensing, Code and internal policy obligations relevant to Transactional Banking, excluding Financial Crime
- partner with Line 1 Risk teams and Product Owners to identify, assess and manage compliance risk across product design, distribution and lifecycle management
- provide independent review, challenge and practical guidance across product, process, system and operating-model change
- lead compliance input into incidents, issues and remediation, including root-cause analysis, sustainable actions and governance-aligned closure
- interpret complex regulatory and policy requirements and translate them into clear, practical advice for business stakeholders
- contribute insights, analysis and emerging themes for senior management and governance reporting
- coach and support team members, while identifying opportunities to strengthen the broader compliance environment
We’re interested in hearing from people who have:
- substantial practical experience providing Line 2 compliance advisory support, ideally within financial services, deposit and transaction products, retail banking or a related regulatory environment
- strong knowledge of Australian financial services law and relevant ASIC, APRA, BCCC, RBA and ACCC requirements
- the ability to provide constructive challenge, exercise sound judgement and develop practical solutions that support strong customer and compliance outcomes
- strong stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills, with the confidence to work autonomously in a busy environment
- excellent written communication skills and the ability to translate complex requirements into clear, concise materials
- strong prioritisation and delivery capability, with experience managing competing regulatory activities and deadlines
A degree in Law, Business, Commerce or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates with relevant legal, regulatory or Line 1 risk experience and demonstrated ability to apply that knowledge in a compliance environment are also encouraged to apply.
