As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Retail Bakery Manager to oversee the day-to-day retail operations of our store.
The Opportunity
This is a genuine retail management position focused on the operation, performance and profitability of our retail business. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, inventory, merchandising, customer service standards and financial performance while ensuring the efficient operation of the store.
Key Responsibilities
- Determine product mix, stock levels and customer service standards for the retail store.
- Formulate and implement purchasing, merchandising and pricing policies to maximise sales and profitability.
- Develop and implement promotional and marketing activities, including seasonal campaigns, cultural events and community engagement initiatives.
- Monitor sales performance and analyse business reports to identify opportunities for growth and operational improvement.
- Manage store budgets, monitor expenses, labour costs and profit margins, and implement cost-control measures where required.
- Maintain records of inventory, stock movements, wastage, sales transactions and financial performance.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate purchasing arrangements to ensure product availability and cost-effective procurement.
- Determine staffing requirements, prepare staff rosters and allocate duties to ensure efficient store operations.
- Recruit, train, supervise and performance-manage retail staff.
- Ensure high standards of customer service and resolve customer enquiries and complaints in a professional manner.
- Oversee visual merchandising, product presentation, freshness standards and in-store displays.
- Monitor compliance with food safety regulations, workplace health and safety requirements and relevant local council regulations.
- Implement and review operational procedures to improve efficiency, productivity and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure the store is maintained in a clean, safe and welcoming condition at all times.
- Report on store performance and provide recommendations to business owners regarding sales growth, operational improvements and profitability.
About You – Essential Requirements
- At least three (3) years of experience managing retail operations in a bakery, patisserie, confectionery business, food retail outlet or similar customer-facing retail environment.
- A Diploma or higher qualification in Retail Management, Business Management, Hospitality Management or a closely related field of management (AQF equivalent or higher).
- Demonstrated experience in staff supervision, rostering, inventory control, merchandising and retail operations management.
- Strong financial, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work flexible retail hours, including weekends when required.
