About the role
In this role, you will ensure every visitor receives a welcoming, professional, and informative experience that reflects the Museum’s values and enhances visitor satisfaction. You will accurately process sales transactions, maintain attractive and well-stocked retail displays, assist with inventory and stock control, and deliver exceptional customer service in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Your positive attitude, attention to detail, and commitment to service excellence will help create memorable experiences for every guest.
Working hours will be across 7 days and weekend work is essential.
Standard work hours 9.45 – 5.15 daily, at times evening work is required for events and programmes.
Work type: Casual.
Classification: Band 2, $44.35 + super.
Key responsibilities include:
- Open and close the Museum Shop, and assist, as required from time to time, with open and close of Museum.
- Ensure visitors, groups and event attendees are welcomed and oriented in an appropriate, professional and timely manner in accordance with all relevant policies and procedures.
- Undertake customer service and retail sales including cash handling and associated administrative tasks in line with Council values, policies and procedures.
- Assist in the implementation of retail display and visual merchandising of products (retail space).
- Assist with stock management including database entry, pricing, stock take and handling including quality control, maintenance and presentation of stock.
- Manage ticket sales and complete banking in line with Council policies and procedures.
- Attend to visitor and telephone enquiries concerning the venue and/or its programs and activities.
About you
Essential Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in a customer/visitor service and front of house role within a retail, ticketing or customer service environment.
- Experience in cash handling procedures and banking.
- Experience with electronic point of sale systems.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
- Computer literacy in database, retail/stock management systems and/or ticketing.
- Skills in merchandising and retail display.
Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a Working with Children's Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
