Your next career opportunity:
You will lead specialist civil, geotechnical and environmental laboratories that underpin world-class teaching and research.
You will design experiments, manage complex equipment and ensure safe, standards-compliant testing for diverse stakeholders.
You will mentor students and staff, helping them build confidence with advanced instruments and fieldwork.
What you will deliver:
- Provide expert technical support in structural, geotechnical and environmental laboratories for teaching, research and consultancy projects.
- Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot specialist equipment, coordinating servicing, repairs and safety compliance with internal and external providers.
- Lead laboratory OHS, quality and regulatory activities, including inspections, risk assessments, SOPs and audits against relevant standards.
- Design and implement experiments, rigs and field measurements, ensuring robust data collection, analysis and documentation.
- Prepare, deliver and support laboratory classes and field trips, including logistics, vehicles, inventory and consumables.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Hold a relevant degree or trade in structures, geotechnical or environmental disciplines, or equivalent experience and training.
- Bring substantial experience in structural materials testing and/or geotechnical testing on soils and rock using analytical equipment.
- Demonstrate proven ability to conduct testing to Australian Standards, ASTM, ISO and NATA requirements within laboratory environments.
- Apply strong knowledge of OHS legislation, laboratory compliance and risk management, including BICON, OGTR and quarantine guidelines.
- Hold current Victorian driver’s licence and relevant High Risk Work Licences, such as forklift and dogging.
- Manage competing priorities in busy technical environments while supporting high-quality service to academic, research and student users.
